Herniation of the Gallbladder through the Epiploic Foramen inte the Lesser Sac

Abstract
A case of herniation of the gallbladder through the epiploic foramen into the lesser sac in a 48 year old Korean male is reported.
Internal hernias are often difficult to diagnose prior to surgical exploration because of anatomic variabilities and differences in symptomatology.
The epiploic foramen through which the lesser and greater peritoneal cavities communicate is an infrequent site for an internal hernia.
In most reported cases, portion of the small or large intestine have herniated through the foramen. The herniation of the gallbladder through this epiploic foramen into the lesser sac is extremely rare. Several anatomic features are necessory for the developement of herniation of the Gallbladder into
the lesser sac.
The symptoms and signs which are suggestive of making diagnosis of the Gallbladder herniation through the epiploic foramen are described.
